Position Overview:
Sugar Creek Charter Schools mission is to eradicate generational poverty by providing a rigorous college and career preparatory education for students from kindergarten through 12th grade focusing on academic preparation college and career readiness and life skills for success. We are seeking a missionaligned passionate and dedicated High School English 4 Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create an engaging and challenging learning environment implement rigorous and differentiated instruction and support the academic and socialemotional growth of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Classroom Management:
- Develop and implement standardsaligned lesson plans that foster critical reading analytical writing and literary analysis skills.
- Use datadriven instruction to assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Create a structured and positive classroom culture that encourages critical thinking discussion and a love of literature.
- Utilize differentiation strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners including those needing enrichment or additional support.
- Incorporate diverse texts realworld connections and technology to enhance student learning.
Student Support & Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with students and set high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Implement socialemotional learning (SEL) strategies to support student wellbeing.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Ensure the safety of students at all times through consistent supervision and by following and implementing the schoolwide behavior plan.
Collaboration & Professional Growth:
- Embrace a growth mindset by actively seeking and applying feedback to enhance instructional practices and student learning outcomes.
- Participate in planning and coaching sessions with curriculum leaders.
- Work closely with gradelevel teams instructional coaches and support staff to enhance student learning.
- Actively engage in professional development and seek opportunities for continuous growth.
- Contribute to the school community through team meetings committees and events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in English Education or a related field (required).
- Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure in North Carolina (preferred).
- Experience teaching high school English preferably English 4 or other advanced English courses (preferred but not required).
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to high expectations for all students.
- Passion for urban education and a commitment to closing the achievement gap.
