What is the Role
Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately and timely processing of payroll ensuring compliance with regulations and managing employeerelated inquiries. Onsite Position
Your day to day:
Payroll
Responsible for biweekly payroll processing.
Respond to employee payroll inquiries resolving issues promptly and maintaining a high level of customer service.
Complete review of payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including pay overtime benefits garnishments taxes and other deductions and updates including new hires terminations changes to pay rates payroll deductions for taxes benefits charitable contributions and other deductions.
Enter and maintain information in the payroll system; information may include employees hourly rates salaries bonuses or other compensation time worked paid leave and holidays deductions and withholding address changes and other information.
Process employee terminations ensuring accuracy and compliance with wage and hour laws.
Responsible for processing employee loan requests.
Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
Work with Benefits Specialist to reconcile monthly bills from carriers.
Issue or reissue pay cards or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
Ensure payroll compliance with federal state and local labor laws including taxes withholdings and deductions. Stay updated on changing regulations that impact payroll.
Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software systems and procedures.
Process accurate and timely yearend reporting when necessary.
Run reports as requested by Human Resources and finance team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Who we are looking for:
Education and Experience
Highschool diploma or equivalent required
BS/BA in business or accounting a plus
Three to five 3 5 years experience in processing payroll
MultiUnit experience a plus
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of the payroll function including preparation balancing internal control and payroll taxes and of Working knowledge of payroll best practices
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software. Working knowledge of Multiple Payroll Software is a plus (Paycom Paylocity UltiPro UKG).
Outstanding organizational ability: including multitasking and the ability to prioritize

Ability to communicate with various levels of management

Proficient in operating a PC (desktop and/or laptop) which may include the following peripherals: webcam mouse keyboard printer scanner monitor(s) and external drive.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint). Ability to learn other functional software which may include Nexonia PlateIQ and Adobe Fill and Sign.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position works in an office setting. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee must have the ability to give and receive detailed information through oral communication (frequently required to talk and hear) and have close visual acuity to perform activities such as proofreading reviewing spreadsheets documents and invoices. This position is frequently required to sit for an extended period of time 7 hours) look at a computer screen for an extended period of time be on the phone for extended periods of time use hands and fingers to handle feel or operate a computer mouse keyboard and reach with hands and arms. This position is regularly required to lift 10 pounds and carry that weight more than 50 feet.
Position Type and Expected Hours
This is a fulltime /Exempt position. Office Hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. This position might require working additional hours outside normal hours as needed to accomplish objectives and advance project work.
