Senior Backend Engineer Search and Browse Platform (All Genders)
ABOUT THE TEAM
As a Backend Engineer in the Search and Browse Platform you will be delivering a direct impact to more than 50 million Zalando customers in 25 countries and growing. You will take the Search systems to the next level currently we have around 15M searchable articles in our Elasticsearch (around 600 nodes with 150 indexes) and everything including Elasticsearch is hosted on Kubernetes
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
- Be a part of an agile experienced backend engineering team to developing the Catalog and Search systems
- Design build and maintain largescale backend microservices using technologies such as Scala Elasticsearch PostgreSQL Nakadi and Kubernetes
- Ensure a stateoftheart software development methodology
- Share your knowledge with your colleagues helping them to grow their technical skills
- Interact with various teams and stakeholders with different backgrounds and with a large spectrum of competencies
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
- Ability to design largescale resilient distributed microservices on a cloud infrastructure (preferably Kubernetes and AWS)
- Experience with REST APIs design and eventdriven architectures
- Experience with scaling a largescale Database system (SQL or noSQL)
- Experience with JVMbased languages (Java Kotlin Scala) experience with Scala is a plus
- Advocating for agile processes operational excellence and coding best practices such as clean code readability and testdriven development
