Job Description

Primary Purpose:

To provide collaboration and coordination in the development and delivery of quality services to meet the needs of Region 16 clients.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Masters degree required
  • Texas teaching and counseling certification required
  • School Safety experience preferred
  • Federal/State grant experience preferred
  • McKinneyVento experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to relate well with others
  • Selfmotivated and customer service oriented with strong public/human relations planning and organizational skills
  • Strong problemsolving skills required
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Required ability to travel for work outside of regularly scheduled work hours

Working Conditions:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting and standing
  • Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching occasional driving
  • Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying 45 pounds or more)
  • Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
  • Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
  • Regular Attendance is an essential function

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Communicates effectively to provide uptodate information to district/campus personnel regarding developments initiatives and priorities at the state and federal level
  2. Provides training and technical assistance to districts regarding federal Title IVA grant programs including federal program updates Outcomes and Measurable Objectives Use of Funds Application and Compliance.
  3. Provides training and technical assistance to districts on State grants related to school safety i.e. School Safety Allotment SAFE Cycle 1 and 2 Safety Standards Formula Grant
  4. Provides training technical assistance and support with Emergency Operation Plans (EOP) Standard Response protocol (SRP) Standard Reunification Method (SRM) School Safety Teams and Threat Assessment Teams for districts
  5. Provides support and assistance related to school safety issues
  6. Monitors legislative changes and TEA guidance to proactively assess impact on district safety protocols and funding eligibility and communicates actionable summaries to stakeholders.
  7. Coordinates services and trainings with other Region 16 departments as related to school safety i.e. health technology PEIMS counseling
  8. Plans and oversees the annual Region 16 School Safety Summit including key notes breakouts vendors and participants related to current safety and mental health concerns
  9. Maintains knowledge and skills in the area of school safety and mental health by engaging in ongoing professional development
  10. Collaborates with the CTE/CCMR Lead to develop professional development for CCMR
  11. Provides CCMR technical assistance for LEAs
  12. Assists in organizing Why Teach Middle School Career Fair High School College and Career Fair CTE Conference
  13. Collaborates with the Regional Convener Lead and the Northwest Texas Innovation Zone Specialist
  14. Provide guidance and technical assistance to LEAs to ensure compliance with the McKinneyVento Act and related Texas Education Agency policies
  15. Support school districts in the identification and immediate enrollment of students experiencing homelessness
  16. Foster partnerships with community organizations shelters social service agencies and other entities to enhance services for students experiencing homelessness
  17. Helps coordinate the Region 16 Crisis Response Team
  18. Travels as a part of job responsibilities
  19. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director A functioning cell phone means that it is charged activated messages checked and mailbox emptied regularly
  20. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
  21. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region
  22. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
  23. Supports the mission goals and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
  24. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
  25. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies processes and procedures
  26. Manages time calendar and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
  27. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
  28. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.
  29. Performs other duties as assigned
