Job Description:

The Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures at the University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a fulltime ninemonth nontenureaccruing position at the rank of Instructional Lecturer beginning August 16 2025. Applicants will have an M.A. in Japanese Japanese Language Pedagogy Japanese Linguistics or related field or applicants will complete the MA by August 15 2025. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and the compensation includes a full benefits package.

The successful applicant will a) contribute to the development and teaching of Japanese language and culture courses including online); b contribute to a robust undergraduate major in Japanese language and culture by collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth articulation across the levels of language instruction and by participating in course design and creation; c) provide extracurricular support of the program through service that includes placement testing weekly language tables and other activities relating to extracurricular Japanese language use. The typical teaching assignment for a lecturer is three courses per semester.

Expected Salary:

Minimum Requirements:

M.A. in Japanese

Preferred Qualifications:

M.A. degree or higher in Japanese language or relevant area including secondlanguage acquisition linguistics and Japanese language pedagogy.

Native or nearnative proficiency in Japanese and English and US college/universitylevel teaching experience are required.

Candidates with demonstrated expertise in languagelearning technology or online course development are particularly welcome.
