We seek a technical leader and strategic thinker who can architect enterprisescale systems and drive the evolution of Wayfairs advertising platform. The ideal candidate will have:
- Deep expertise in distributed systems cloud infrastructure and largescale ad tech (realtime bidding programmatic advertising ad serving etc..
- A strong background in software architecture with experience designing highavailability lowlatency systems.
- Proven ability to influence and lead teams with strong communication and mentorship skills.
- Experience with video advertising technologies ad targeting and auctionbased ad models
- A track record of delivering highimpact businesscritical systems in a fastpaced environment.
What Youll Do
As a Senior Software Engineer you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical vision architecture and of Wayfairs nextgeneration video advertising platform. You will:
- Define and drive the architecture for scalable highperformance video ad serving solutions.
- Make strategic technical decisions balancing innovation scalability and operational efficiency.
- Lead crossfunctional collaboration working closely with engineering product and business teams to design and implement complex adserving workflows.
- Guide technical direction on areas such as dynamic ad insertion targeting strategies and advanced ad placement optimizations.
- Mentor and influence engineering teams establishing best practices for software development system reliability and performance tuning.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies ensuring the platform is built with modern forwardlooking architecture that meets business needs at scale.
We Are a Match Because
- 5 years of experience architecting highly complex interconnected systems that solved complex business problems
- 8 years of experience in backend software engineering using object oriented language and preferably Java
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with relational and nonrelational databases
- Experience working with eventdriven architectures DDD and TDD
- Mastery of some flavor of modern frontend frameworks and technologies like React Redux etc
- Experience in Big Data technologies like Apache Kafka/Apache spark/Nosql databases
- Preferred experience in the CI/CD tools/platforms like Buildkite/Docker/Kubernetes.
- Experience with Cloud Native architecture platforms like Google Cloud AWS or Azure.
- Experience in system monitoring using tools like DataDog etc.
