About the role
Engage and Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing Aboriginal Health Mental Health Homeless Health Alcohol and Drug Services and the Emergency Department.
Serve as a positive role model sharing personal recovery experiences to support Aboriginal people
Assist with crisis & care planning for Aboriginal people
Deliver individual & group interventions in collaboration with clinicians
Identify and address risk issues ensuring consumer safety and reporting to appropriate clinicians
Participate in cultural and peer supervision
No evenings or weekend work.
About you
Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
Hold or be willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
Able to deliver culturally safe services for Aboriginal people utilizing lived experience
Demonstrate understanding of mental health service user issues and maintain professional boundaries
Possess excellent written and verbal communication including the ability to share your recovery journey

Closely partnered with universities & affiliated research institutes many of which are located oncampus
Centres of excellence include heart & lung transplantation bone marrow transplantation cardiology cancer care AIDS/HIV respiratory medicine mental health homeless health drug & alcohol services and correctional health
