  • Role title: Aboriginal Mental Health and Wellbeing Peer Worker

  • Role type: Max term contract until 30 June 2025. Part time 0.5FTE 2.5 days p/week)

  • Role grade: Health Education Officer Non Graduate/Graduate. Level 2

  • Department and location: Inner City Health Stream St Vincents Hospital Darlinghurst

  • Salary: $65978.08 super (non graduate). $74728.05 super (graduate). Pro rata

About the role

  • Engage and Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing Aboriginal Health Mental Health Homeless Health Alcohol and Drug Services and the Emergency Department.

  • Serve as a positive role model sharing personal recovery experiences to support Aboriginal people

  • Assist with crisis & care planning for Aboriginal people

  • Deliver individual & group interventions in collaboration with clinicians

  • Identify and address risk issues ensuring consumer safety and reporting to appropriate clinicians

  • Participate in cultural and peer supervision

  • No evenings or weekend work.

About you

  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent

  • Hold or be willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work

  • Able to deliver culturally safe services for Aboriginal people utilizing lived experience

  • Demonstrate understanding of mental health service user issues and maintain professional boundaries

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication including the ability to share your recovery journey
