Consultant First Nations Education

Commencement Date: May2025

Employment Type: Full Time Fixed Term Contract ending 5 December 2025

Salary Range:CCEO Level 8 $139695 to $155208 gross per annum

About the Role

The Consultant First Nations Education contributes to the development implementation and evaluation of strategies initiatives and approaches that strengthen the wellbeing engagement and achievement of First Nations students.

In this role you will assist in providing advice and guidance to schools and Catholic Education Services staff to support the provision of culturally responsive approaches inclusive of antiracism strategies and critical race literacies that strengthen the engagement with First Nations students families communities and organisations.

Suitable applicants should have the ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment and experience working with internal and external stakeholders.

Who are we:
The Directorate First Nations Education leads and influences the development of cultural responsiveness across the organisation. We aim to ensure that national state and system documents inform the research design delivery and evaluation of policies programs and services.
The Directorate plays a pivotal role through:
  • Leading the strong improvement agenda for First Nations Education grounded in evidence from research and best practice and expressed in terms of improvements in measurable outcomes
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous professional improvement for First Nations Education
  • Focussing on analytics and discussions of academic and wellbeing data to nurture and grow the genius of First Nations students
  • An active focus on student agency for First Nations students. Note: Student Agency includes voice leadership social capital and Cultural Identity.
  • Active contribution to the ideation implementation monitoring and reporting of antiracism education across the Diocese
  • An active role in supporting the implementation of evidencebased practices to ensure culturally responsive processes are in place at transition points for First Nations students parents and community members
About you:
  • Are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Demonstrated knowledge understanding and implementation of the curriculum
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultures and communities
  • A Degree in Education
  • Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers or the ability to gain registration
  • A proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A commitment to antiracism education

Eligibility Requirements:

This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Aboriginality is considered essential for this position under section 25 of the Antidiscrimination Act.

  2. Demonstrated welldeveloped organisational planning and task management skills including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  3. Demonstrated well developed conceptual and analytical skills and the ability to identify strengths opportunities and approaches to build the capability of system leaders teaching and nonteaching staff to strengthen cultural responsiveness
  4. Demonstrated welldeveloped facilitation negotiation and consultation skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  5. Demonstrated welldeveloped verbal and written communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  6. Demonstrated welldeveloped interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and interact in a team environment.
