Job Description
The People eXperience and Technology (PXT) Central Science Team uses economics behavioral science statistics and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives wellbeing and the value of work to Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team which combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal. We invest in innovation and rapid prototyping of scientific models and software solutions to accelerate informed accurate and reliable decision backed by science and data.
We are looking for an experienced data engineer engineer to integrate data sources and create a data infrastructure to model and research all aspects of HR including: workforce planning recruiting employee engagement retention development employee benefits and compensation. Lead information architecture workstream automate ingestion and consumption using AWS toolsets and data mesh implementations. Build data taxonomy to organize data by subject matter domains. Develop a seamless vending strategy for sharing data with PXT and Amazon stakeholders. Lead data curation for easy consumption in science models. Lead and streamline data governance for protecting privacy for Amazonians.
The ideal candidate is expected to work closely with senior scientists and business leaders to study the impact Amazon has had on workers the market and the economy. You will build new data engineering solutions endtoend will work with multiple stakeholders across HR and Operations and will build data pipelines/automation that can be used by distributed systems to run statistical and ML models. A successful candidate will have a passion for innovation interest in cuttingedge technology and excitement about working in a highimpact domain.
3 years of data engineering experience
Experience with data modeling warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience with SQL
Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift S3 AWS Glue EMR Kinesis FireHose Lambda and IAM roles and permissions
Experience with nonrelational databases / data stores (object storage document or keyvalue stores graph databases columnfamily databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
