Job Description

Florida SouthWestern State Collegeis accepting resumes in search of aProfessor Humanities to join our team of exceptional faculty on the Collier campus located in Naples Florida. As an FSW faculty member you have the opportunity to directly impact the colleges mission to inspire our students to Dedicate to Graduate.

As an openenrollment institution with a diverse student body four campuses in the Gulf Coast area and a gallery bearing Robert Rauschenbergs name we are seeking dynamic knowledgeable candidates committed to teaching and to fostering a community of intellectual engagement ethically minded inquiry and creative exploration. Candidates must be comfortable working with students from varying economic ethnic linguistic religious and academic backgrounds.

The successful candidate in the Humanities position will have teaching responsibilities encompassing general education introductory survey courses in the humanities as well as introductory courses organized around special humanities topics. Candidates should demonstrate mastery of humanities content from across the ages within the Western tradition must have transdisciplinary training and must be able to guide students in beginning college composition. Any area of research specialization is acceptable but candidates must be passionate about teaching in a general education curriculum for nonmajors. Candidates will be expected to promote the essential value of a liberal arts education within a diverse contemporary global society both in the classroom and through extracurricular projects. The course load is 5/5 (fall/spring).

The School of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences supports all degree and certificate programs of study offered at Florida SouthWestern State College. Through a broad curriculum the SoAHSS provides highquality teaching and learning experiences that are accessible and affordable and prepares students to achieve the majority of their general education competencies. Within a culturally and artistically rich academic environment our students develop the abilities to communicate effectively think critically use technology and apply scientific principles and methods. Our core course offerings promote awareness and understanding of the complexities of the human condition while nurturing the ability of our students to explore history society and culture from multiple vantage points. Through the development of these skills we prepare our students to engage challenges and embrace opportunities in the workforce in the community and the world.

Salary Range: $51976.01 $61643.90 (for two terms): the maximum salary is based on a doctorate education level and 10 years of verifiable fulltime teaching experience. Salary will be determined at the hire date.
