KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The candidate should possess a thorough knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA); a thorough knowledge of the evaluation/identification and needs of students with disabilities an extensive knowledge of the specially designed instruction to support the needs of diverse learners academically and behaviorally; a thorough knowledge of various methods of data collection and subsequent analysis and interpretation of data to drive appropriate instructional recommendations decisions and interventions; a thorough knowledge of varied teaching practices and strategies classroom accommodations modifications classroom management and varied assessment techniques; a thorough knowledge of instruction and education principles practices and procedures; a thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; a thorough knowledge of school division rules regulations and procedures; knowledge of data disaggregation for the purpose of evaluating student growth; ability to engage encourage and motivate students parents and staff; the ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; the ability to communicate effectively with adult learners; the ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff students administration and parents.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university hold a teaching license and possess a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in public education particularly in Adapted Special Education. A Masters degree in Special Education or a related field is preferred.
