Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
  2. Experience working with children preferred.
  3. Flexible and able to adjust your daily routine.
  4. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
  6. Physically able to lift carry push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  7. Must have one of the following:

a. 48 hours of college credits OR

b. Associates or higher degree OR
c. Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).

REQUIREMENTS:

If you meet the college requirements above 7a or 7b) please upload your transcript(s) at the time of application.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

187 Days

SALARY/PAY GRADE:

$21152 /IP2 as approved by the Board of Trustees.

*Braille VI aides earn an additional $1000 annual stipend.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Translate student worksheets tests and overhead transparencies into Braille using computer braille and/or Perkins Braille Writer.
  2. Transcribe student produced braille into print.
  3. Produce tactual representations of maps graphs diagrams and other visual media.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency in braille software.
  5. Travel between schools and braille production center.
  6. Inform VI instructional staff of any special needs or difficulties regarding production of student work.
  7. Follow team decisions established policies and procedures and designated lines of communication and authority.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned based on VI student need or location.
  9. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
