- Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
- Experience working with children preferred.

- Physically able to lift carry push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must have one of the following:
a. 48 hours of college credits OR
b. Associates or higher degree OR
c. Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).

*Braille VI aides earn an additional $1000 annual stipend.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Translate student worksheets tests and overhead transparencies into Braille using computer braille and/or Perkins Braille Writer.
- Transcribe student produced braille into print.
- Produce tactual representations of maps graphs diagrams and other visual media.
- Demonstrate proficiency in braille software.
- Travel between schools and braille production center.
- Inform VI instructional staff of any special needs or difficulties regarding production of student work.
- Follow team decisions established policies and procedures and designated lines of communication and authority.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on VI student need or location.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Tools/Equipment Used:Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students
- Posture:Frequent standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
