SUMMARY: Creates a flexible elementary grade gifted program favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with pupils; motivates pupils to develop skills; attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each pupils ability; establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate Arizona Elementary Teacher Certification
• Gifted Endorsement
• Meets Criteria of Highly Qualified
• Minimum of a Provisional SEI or ESL Endorsement
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Demonstrates teaching skills and knowledge in gifted program utilizing course of study adopted by the Governing Board and other appropriate learning activities.
2. Evaluate pupils academic and social growth and prepare progress reports. Maintains the confidentiality of each students record
3. Establishes and maintains lines of communication with students and parents on a regular basis. Communicates with parents to discuss pupils progress with respect when reviewing a childs problems or progress.
4. Maintains a learning atmosphere by creating an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays bulletin boards and interest centers to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the students
5. Maintains professional competence by participating in classes workshops and other growth activities.
6. Select and requisition instructional aids and materials; maintain required inventory records.
7. Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the District and/or selfselected professional activities and attends required staff meetings and trainings.
8. Assists in implementing policies administrative regulations and procedures established by the Governing Board district administration and unit school principal.
9. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Assists other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum.
10. Collaborates with school personnel parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes developing solutions and planning curriculum.
11. Directs student workers volunteers etc. for the purpose of maximizing their efficiency and meeting work requirements.
12. Reports incidents (e.g. fights suspected child abuse suspected substance abuse etc. for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code administrative and/or school policies.
13. Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read analyze and interpret education materials and programs. Ability to write reports procedure manuals and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers students administration and the community.

Communicates Aims and/or objectives to students in a wellplanned organized manner using clear and precise language.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to talk and hear. Work involves sitting for extended periods of time requires moving from one location to another reaching stooping kneeling crouching bending and holding and grasping objects climbing and balancing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
