Supervising Engineer Energy Recovery SectionSB29824EAbout the Position:The Sanitation Districts are seeking a Supervising Engineerto lead our Energy Recovery Section. This section manages projects focused on sustainability including hydrogen production solar generation and biogas utilization. The work is fastpaced and rewarding requiring strong leadership and communication skills.

- Supervise and Coordinate Engineering Activities: Oversee a wide range of projects across planning design construction operations and maintenance development and research.
- Lead Engineering Teams: Plan organize and coordinate the work of engineers ensuring efficient project completion high technical quality and adherence to District policies.
- Collaborate and Liaise: Serve as a liaison between engineering sections other departments outside contractors and additional stakeholders fostering clear and proactive communication.
- Community Engagement: Deliver presentations to community groups demonstrating the impact of our projects and the importance of sustainable practices.
- Technical Oversight: Guide and review complex engineering reports ensuring precision and alignment with the sections goals and regulatory standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must possess all of the following:
- A valid California Class C driver license
For SUPERVISING ENGINEER I:- A bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university in mechanical or civil/environmental engineering AND
- A valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of California; AND
- Either one 1 year of experience with the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County performing duties at or above the Civil Engineer or equivalent level; OR Five 5 years of verifiable engineering experience at a level which requires possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of California.
For SUPERVISING ENGINEER II:- Two 2 years of experience with the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County as a Supervising Engineer I or equivalent experience supervising professional engineers.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:- Ability to develop projects including feasibility studies project approval permitting and coordination of design and construction.
- Knowledge of organics processing and energy recovery technologies energy markets and relevant power plant and wastewater treatment plant operations.
- Proven engineering experience in project management ideally in energy recovery or waste management fields.
- Demonstrated expertise in team leadership including fostering professional growth and optimizing performance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
This vacancy may be filled at any level dependingon the selected candidates qualifications. EXAMPLES OF ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
- Knowledge of:
- Principles of supervision and training
- Engineering principles practices techniques developments and methods
Ability to:- Plan organize and supervise the work of professional and support staff
- Prepare analyze and implement solutions for complex engineering problems
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
