Job Description

Pay Grade: N (Exempt Salary System)

Department: Special Services

Accountable to: Director of Special Services

FLSA Status: Exempt

Calendar: 261 Days

Creation/Revision Date: February 13 2025

Class Summary:

Under general direction incumbent(s) works in partnership with the Special Services Department staff and Special Education Teachers to ensure Individualized Education Program (IEP) Compliance with state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist in the management of the timeline and paper work compliance process and be a supportive partner in the completion of required paper work and accurate reporting of IEP and evaluation documentation to the District.
  • Be responsible for onboarding new special education teachers with regard to the writing of IEPs.
  • Conduct regular IEP audits to ensure compliance with federal and state law Medicaid requirements and District special education policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a support and direct point of contact for teachers with questions regarding IEP compliance.
  • Generate and provide monthly reports to the Special Services Director including but not limited to a reconciliation report between the District student information system and IEP program to identify areas needing support.
  • Ensure IEPs meet all legal requirements and are implemented correctly.
  • Provide guidance to Special Services staff in areas of IEP Compliance.
  • Conduct training for staff on IEP compliance and best practices.
  • Other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education Education or related field
  • Three years of teaching experience
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education Teaching certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Masters degree in Special Education Education or related field

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Using computers and software applications;
  • Knowledgeable of the laws and regulations governing special needs education;
  • Applying and implementing policies and procedures for special services and programs as they apply to the Individual Education Plan;
  • Engaging and encouraging interpersonal communication skills while interacting with supervisors staff etc. to exchange information.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
