Assistant Preschool Teacher: FulltimeForschool year About Us: Glen Urquhart School (GUS) is an independent coeducational day school for students in PreK through grade eight. Located 45 minutes north of Boston in Beverly Farms GUS was founded in 1977 with an experiential thematic placebased philosophy that integrates all subjects and creates opportunities for students to be passionate in their pursuit of knowledge. The Position: We seek a motivated and flexible assistant preschool school teacher who understands how young people learn and believes in differentiated and developmentallyaligned models of teaching and learning. The ideal candidate understands the importance of instruction and inspiration is attuned to the social and emotional growth of students and is comfortable with outdoor education. They are also a team player who works well with others. This position is fulltime and eligible for Responsibilities: As an independent day school we expect teachers to become involved in the life of the school. Beyond classroom work teachers attend weekly school meetings school functions and community events. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:Supporting the mission and philosophy of the schoolDemonstrating academic excellence through a working knowledge of GUSs core curriculumManaging a classroom of young children with a teaching partnerOrganizing the classroom and establishing routines that support young childrens learningPlanning lessons that are interdisciplinary and thematicWorking with children in outdoor environments throughout the school yearParticipating in parent conferences meeting and communicating with parents regularlyWorking collaboratively with all lower school teachersKeeping accurate and uptodate records on student progressQualifications: At GUS we recognize that there are innumerable ways to learn grow and excel professionally.
