The Manitoba Mtis Federation(MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Mtisalso known as the Manitoba Mtis. The Red River Mtis are a distinct IndigenousNation and People and Canadas Negotiating Partners in Confederation and theFounders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill onefulltime Recreation and Volunteer Coordinator position within our MichifManor located at 800 Notre Dame Ave in Winnipeg MB.Reporting to and under the direction of the General Manager the Recreationand Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for sourcing developingorganizing and scheduling culturally meaningful recreational activities andvolunteer programs while designing and implementing recreational events andpromoting recruiting and training volunteers to assist in Michif Manorsobjectives. Michif Manor operates 24/7therefore the incumbent must be flexible and available to work various shiftsincluding evenings and weekends.

Job Duties/Competencies:

Plan organize and oversee recreationalevents workshops and group activities;

Coordinate logistics including securingvenues equipment and materials;

Promote volunteer activities and events throughvarious channels (social media newsletters flyers);

Create a volunteer program promotionalmaterials and databases;

Recruit volunteers to fill recreationalactivity schedules develop volunteer schedules assign duties and ensureadequate staffing for all activities;

Answer general inquiries from the public andprovide information related to resources and programs available;

Work closely with community organizationslocal businesses and other stakeholders to develop partnerships and expand programofferings.

Skills and Qualifications:

Relevant education in the field ofrecreation/volunteerism or related work experience;

Minimum of 2 years experience in recreationactivity planning/volunteerism;

Excellent communication skills includingexperience in drafting correspondence creating training materials andpreparing reports;

Experience in a computerized office environmentwith a proficiency in Microsoft Office;

Certified Volunteer Administration credentials(CVA) considered an asset;

First Aid training (Basics with CPR and AED)considered an asset;

Experience working for a notforprofitorganization and Indigenous community is an asset;

Strong organizational interpersonal and timemanagement skills;

Knowledge of Red River Mtis culture and MMFprograms and services is a definite asset; and

Abilityto travel valid Manitoba Drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle.
