The CPS Summer Scholars program is a four week summer learning experience for current grade 57 students with demonstrated academic need.
The program will operate from 8:3012:00 at The Putnam Avenue School from July 7 to August 1. The day is organized into a block schedule and studies will have Math ELA and enrichment periods each day. The program will include specialized classrooms for Multilingual Learners who will join their peers for lunch and enrichment programs.
The CPS Summer Scholars Principal under the direction of the Executive Director of Academics is responsible for the coordination supervision and management of the CPS Summer Scholars program and summer operations at their assigned site. Specific duties include:
MayJune
Attend logistics and collaborative planning meetings;
Participate in the recruiting and hiring process for program staff;
Support schoolbased student recruitment efforts;
Collaborate with department and program staff to develop programspecific themes that integrate with the district provided ELA curriculum and grade level focus standards for ELA and Math;
Create schedules and class rosters for camp sites include staff lunch and prep time;
Manage a program budget for supplies and enrichment activities including field trips; and
Participate in planning for preprogram professional development for summer teaching staff
JuneAugust
Oversee and manage daily program operations;
Serve as a liaison for families and teachers in the program;
Oversee transportation and pick up of students;
Coordinate breakfast/lunch/snack program;
Coordinate and supervise field trips;
Provide teacher support as needed;
Maintain communication with the Director of MTSS and Program Manager
Maintain student attendance data and student pick up logs;
Maintain the safety of program participants;
Provide substitute coverage when a staff member is absent;
Disseminate communications to families regarding program guidelines policies and expectations
Coordinate with team members to plan one parent event; and
Other related duties assigned by the Executive Director of Academics

Contract Amount:
April 15June 2025: $60 per hour $2400 not to exceed 40 hours)
JulyAugust 2025: $60 per hour $7800 not to exceed 130 hours)
MinimumRequirements:
CPS Summer Scholars principals must have a strong commitment to the mission vision goals and objectives of the Cambridge Public Schools. Minimum of five years experience in teacher or leadership roles. Previous school leadership experience strongly preferred. Massachusetts DESE licensure in Elementary 16 Moderate Disabilities preK8 and/or Administrative License required.

Not to exceed $7800.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a nonexemptemployee and have worked more than 40 hours a week you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
