Job Description

Job Title:Anticipated Summer School CoordinatorLocation:DistrictClass Title:Regular Non ExemptEffective Date:Summer 2025Salary Range:$3500 StipendHours per week:Part Time

The Summer School Coordinator will coordinate both the Westerly Middle School and Westerly High School Summer School Programs. Both programs will be held at Westerly Middle School from Monday July 7 2025 to Friday August 1 2025.

Session I: 8:00am 10:00am

Session II: 10:00am 12:00pm

Job Summary:

The Secondary (Grades 612 Summer School Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning implementation and daily operations of the program. This role ensures a structured supportive and academically focused environment that meets the needs of students and staff while aligning with district goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Program Oversight: Plan organize and implement the summer school program to support student learning and academic recovery.
  2. Staff Supervision: Support and oversee summer school staff .

  3. Student Enrollment & Scheduling: Manage student enrollment course placements and scheduling.

  4. Curriculum & Instruction: Ensure alignment of curriculum and instruction with district standards and academic goals.

  5. Student Support & Discipline: Oversee and manage student behavior implementing discipline procedures as needed to maintain a productive and positive learning environment. Follow behavior codes.

  6. Communication & Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for staff students and families regarding summer school logistics and expectations.

  7. Data Monitoring & Reporting: Track student progress providing reports as needed. Communicate progress to families and students with a midpoint progress report and final grade report at the conclusion of the program. Communicate grades to appropriate staff at each of the schools (middle and high).

  8. Attendance: Monitor the daily attendance of all summer school students. Contact families of absent students each day.

  9. Resource Management: Ensure appropriate materials technology and resources are available for staff and students.

  10. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed including emergency preparedness.

  11. EndofProgram Evaluation: Collect feedback from staff and students to assess program effectiveness and inform future improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of five 5 years successful experience in teaching or administration
  • Education:
    • A Bachelors Degree from a recognized and accredited college or university
  • Certification:
    • An appropriate Rhode Island Teachers Certification
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Must provide a current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.
