About TRS

Since 1917 the Teachers Retirement System of the City of New York (TRS) has been securing better futures for NYC educators. With a pension fund valued at approximately $120 billion TRS serves over 215000 members providing them with retirement disability and death benefit services.

Overview

Our Summer Internship Program is a twelveweek opportunity for students to gain valuable handson experience while also making important contributions to the City of New York. Interns will support departmental projects collaborate with seasoned professionals and participate in enrichment activities such as networking events and professional training workshops.

Join our dynamic team for an exciting opportunity to support the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) on strategic and operational HR projects. This internship offers handson experience and a unique chance to learn directly from a top HR practitioner. We are seeking a bright innovative individual eager to gain meaningful exposure to HR practices and operations.

Responsibilities

Enrichment Program Coordination

Plan and organize activities for the Summer Intern Enrichment and Engagement Program including a welcome reception Lunch & Learn sessions with senior leaders and teambuilding initiatives (e.g. a charity fundraiser).

Manage intern communication ensuring timely updates about program activities schedules and expectations.

Manage the budget for program activities track related costs and ensure alignment with allocated resources.

Facilitate collaboration among interns and ensure they have a positive engaging experience.



Research Data Management and Collaboration

Participate in meetings brainstorming sessions and strategic discussions to gain a broad understanding of HR operations.

Conduct research on HR trends and analyze data to support decisionmaking policy updates and project enhancement.

Collaborate with internal teams to gather and share relevant information.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters program in Human Resources Public Administration Business Administration Psychology or a related field.

Strong interest in learning about HR operations including budget management and data analysis.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) with good written and verbal communication skills for professional interactions and reporting.

Demonstrates high attention to detail a collaborative mindset professionalism in handling confidential information and a proactive approach to problemsolving while managing multiple tasks effectively.

Qualifications :

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June August each year.
