Ecologist (ECoW focused) Greater Manchester

Following its recent acquisition by SLR Wardell Armstrong forms part of a leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy working on projects across the world from over 100 offices. Starting as a UK business in 1994 SLR now operates as a global company with more than 3500 people delivering clientfocused solutions across Europe North America Pacific Asia and Africa. The Opportunity:

The joining of SLR and Wardell Armstrong brings together a team of approximately 150 ecologists across the UK. The Ecology team is highly successful and due to continued success in delivering ecology/environmental oversight to construction projects we are looking to appoint experienced ecologists with a main focus on Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW). The role will be open to applicants seeking 6month 12month or permanent contracts. Project work will be varied and there will be a strong focus on renewable energy and infrastructure. Successful applicants would be willing to stay away from home for an average of four nights a week sometimes including Sunday nights.

In this role you will:

  • Be an integral member of our clients delivery team;
  • Work alongside ecologists and engineers;
  • Be responsible for ecology data collection
  • Be responsible for the design and implementation of ecology mitigation (e.g. management plans nonlicensed method statements Licensed methos statements);
  • Be responsible for delivering pragmatic and timely solutions to ecological constraints;
  • Procure and engage with subcontractors.

As a successful candidate you will:

  • Hold a degree in ecology or a related discipline;
  • Hole a white CSCS card;
  • Have a minimum of 12 months experience of the same type of work;
  • Be qualifying member status or higher of CIEEM or other relevant institute;
  • Have a flexible approach to work and willingness to develop new ecology field skills including working during unsociable hours;
  • Be willing to work away from home for 34 nights a week (expenses paid)
  • Be selfmotivated with strong communication skills be able to work as part of a team.
  • Hold personal species licenses covering bats/GCN/otter (desirable but not essential)
  • Hold a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle.
