Job Title: Museum Engagement

Job Classification: Marketing and Communications Student

Pay Rate: $10.00

Job Description:

Assist in Planning and Facilitation of ME Programs and Events.
Assist with planning setup facilitation and evaluation of recurring ME Team Programs such as Mini Monday Storytime Village Wednesday and Design Den
Work with ME Team to develop new ideas for regular programs that correspond with events within the museum including diversity months new exhibits openings and master plan renovations.
Develop and facilitate 2 engaging popup activities per semester within the Museum that connect with exhibits collections or special events.

Assist Museum Engagement Manager and Museum Engagement Coordinator with management of Spark Team and engagement on the floor.
Assist in scheduling Spark Guides to engage visitors on the floor using Outlook and When I Work occasionally.
Help Spark Team with any museum operations issues that may arise when serving as team lead.
Fill in shifts on the floor as needed in Play Waco Traveling Exhibit Gallery and Spark Zones.
Create 2 Spark Cart activities to be used by Spark Team & Mayborn Volunteers. This includes prototyping activities.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Assist with covering on Museum Engagement team as needed with general museum programming Spark Team and/or Design Den
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Creative thinker with a general interest in museum education as well as making and tinkering
Enjoy working with the general public
Ability to work independently on projects
Outgoing personality and experience interacting with people from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
Attention to detail
Ability to effectively communicate in written and spoken English
To work alongside colleagues and volunteers and have a flexible approach to working in team situations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an understanding of the different needs of our visitors
Excellent time management

  • Provide marketing and communications support to assigned area of responsibility
  • Assist with various projects activities or tasks related to marketing and communications
  • Support marketing and communications strategies and perform duties accordingly
  • Exhibit a willingness to take initiative and work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
