This is a permanent fulltime position working 75 hours biweekly.

The Mineral Resources and Geological Services Division consists of the following branches: Mineral Resources Yukon Geological Survey and Assessment and Abandoned Mines and is responsible for regulating exploration and mining activity under the Quartz Mining and Placer Mining Acts.

This position is responsible for the strategic and sustainable development and management of the Yukons mineral resources within the context of conservation planning and resource development. The position manages government to government priorities and competing interests and leads the development integration and implementation of plans policies programs and services for the benefit of communities and government objectives. This involves leading and directing the development implementation management and evaluation of government and departmental plans policy and program initiatives and services regarding the sustainable development and management of the Yukons mineral resource wealth.

Essential Qualifications

Degree in Public Administration Political Science Environmental Sciences Natural Resource Management or related discipline
Executivelevel experience in the public sector; including strategic planning human resources and financial management
Experience with mining industry policies and resource management to accomplish mutual goals
Experience providing strategic leadership in the management of diverse and complex program areas leading teams and working collaboratively
Significant experience managing teams and financial resources
Considerable experience establishing effective collaborative relationships with leaders across government community partners private sector and First Nation or Indigenous governments

Candidates who have postsecondary education combined with significant senior management experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
