Improving Attendance Manager

Permanent

GradeConsultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity review

Working 36.5 hours per week.

The role is hybrid however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.

Are you passionate about ensuring that every child thrives and fulfils their potential by attending school regularly Birmingham City Council is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Children and Families Directorate as Improving Attendance Managers. In this vital role you will lead and manage a team to provide highquality attendance support services to local schools ensuring all children have access to fulltime education. If you have a strong background in education or family support services excellent leadership skills and a commitment to safeguarding we want to hear from you!

As an Improving Attendance Manager you will be responsible for;

  • ensuring the statutory responsibilities defined in Working together to improve school attendance are met
  • ensuring that multi agency working and early help is available for families to improve school attendance by supporting schools reviewing policies and ensuring there is effective multiagency partnership
  • providing professional support and challenge to ensure that vulnerable children attend school or alternative provision regularly
  • managing a team promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

Your efforts will help foster good relationships and achieve positive educational outcomes for children in our community.

We are looking for candidates with a high standard of education and at least three years experience working in the field of school attendance and work with vulnerable children and families schools and multiagency collaboration. You should also have management experience in education or family support services and staff development skills. You should have the ability to demonstrate experience of statistical reporting and analysing/presenting data for performance management purposes. You should have a thorough understanding of relevant policies and legislative frameworks as well as experience in supervising individuals and managing conflicting demands. Strong communication skills are essential as you will be producing professional documents delivering training and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. A commitment to equality diversity and inclusion is also key for this role.
