Position Overview:

Boeing India Engineering is looking for a Senior System Reliability and Maintainability Engineer position in the Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team at Bangalore India.

As a member of this SEIT team Systems Safety engineer ensures compliance with required regulations procedures and policies with primary focus on aviation. Systems reliability and maintainability (R&M) engineers leads develop administer and enforce regulations and standards concerning aviation safety including 1 the airworthiness of aircraft and aircraft systems and 2 safety aspects of aviation facilities equipment and procedures.

This position requires basic knowledge and skill in the selected lifecycle of propulsion engine controls and fuel system or subsystem

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide team on performing System analyses activities for safety reliability maintainability testability regulatory and certification.
  • Lead and guide team on reliability analyses including mission reliability requirements/performance parameters mean time between failure schedule reliability guarantees and warranties system/subsystem block diagramming function flows predictions allocations redundancy modeling verification/validation reliability planning Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and reliability testing/growth.
  • Lead and guide team on statistical analysis (Markov and Weibull) based upon sound knowledge of normal distribution standard deviations mean probability and confidence levels.
  • Lead and guide team on maintainability and availability analyses including maintenance task time estimation timeline analysis maintainability prediction and allocations maintenance and servicing procedures fault detection/fault isolation accessibility tools and ground support/test equipment requirements identification.
  • Lead and guide team on aircraft and system functional hazard analysis system safety analysis and fault tree analysis and provide recommendations to improve system safety.
  • Lead planning defining and verifying System Safety requirements to ensure design integrity and safety for certification of aircraft systems/subsystems for full lifecycle.
  • Lead flow down of R&M requirements to design and development of hardware and software based on the development assurance level (DAL).
  • Collaborate with different stakeholders in the relevant areas in order to derive the inputs for the R&M engineering case and decision making
  • Drive R&M engineering processes procedures and instructions
  • Guide engineers performing the necessary hazard analyses to identify potentially hazardous conditions and recommend actions that would contribute to the minimization or prevention of hazards.
  • Lead creation of functional excellence standards and planning for future products development studies.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelors Engineering degree Preferably Electronics/Aeronautical/Electrical / Systems Engineering with upto 17 years / Masters degree with upto 16 years related work experience with 810 years of technical leadership experience.
  • Experience in systems safety analysis as per ARP 4761.
  • Experience in ARP4754A guideline for aircraft/systems development processes.
  • Domain knowledge of propulsion systems and installation fuel systems APU systems and installations Avionics system Flight Control and engine controls are preferred.
  • Indepth knowledge pf Design for R&M Inservice R&M analysis Root cause analysis.
  • Indepth knowledge of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) processes and modeling aircraftlevel Failure Mode Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
  • Indepth knowledge of maintenance plan and concept development condition monitoring repair schemes preventive/scheduled maintenance inspections.
  • Significant experience in safety analysis such as FMEA FTA and Reliability Tools (CAFTA) is preferred.
  • Experience in systems engineering and development process.
  • Experience in safety requirements development verification and validation.
  • Working experience on design and development on Propulsion and Fuel systems (APU systems Engine Control systems Thrust Reverser Control systems Engine Installation systems).
  • Experience in technical coaching and mentoring of mid and early career engineer
  • Good understanding of systems architecture.
  • Ability to foresee and manage risks/risk management.
  • Selfmotivated Good problemsolving skills.

Typical Education & Experience:

Engineering degree and 17 years related work experience a Masters degree and 16 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
