Job Title: Configuration System Engineer Sr.
Location: Remote but candidates must live in Maryland and flexible for onsite as needed (Columbia MD)
Start: June 2025
Pay: $5258/hour
Type: Contract
Must be a US Citizen MD resident and must possess the ability to pass a background check
Contract Labor Category: Systems Engineer Senior
Position Description: The Senior Systems Engineer/ Configuration Specialist must be able to analyze information requirements evaluate problems in workflow organization and planning. The individual in this role develops appropriate corrective action and provides daily supervision and direction to staff.
The Systems Engineer (Senior) shall provide technical and business support for all custom applications developed under this contract or its predecessors the hardware and virtual infrastructure network and communications infrastructure. This position shall act as coordination point between the project team and state personnel in the areas of security patching/compliance systems configuration management and systems deployment activities.

Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen MD resident and must possess the ability to pass a background check
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science information systems engineering business or other related scientific or technical discipline or 4 years of equivalent experience in a related field.
- 6 Years Experience in Systems Engineering
- Proficient in Coding/Scripting skills like PowerShell Groovy Bash etc.
- Experience with implementing and maintaining Continuous Integration Continuous Deployments (CI/CD) solutions and ensuring that pipelines are properly defined and performing optimally.
- Use tools such as Jenkins Gitlab Docker/Containers and other relevant tools required for automation.
- Develop build and deployment process using GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with automating database changes
- Tools experience:
- GitLab CI/CD (preferred) or Jenkins
- Git/GitLab
- Docker/Containerization skills
- Jira Cloud
- Confluence
- Knowledge of and familiarity with software code configuration and version management processes and tools
- Effective communication skills (collaborate with teams sharing ideas knowledge and responsibilities)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience of administering installing and configuring Linux Windows Servers 2019
- Experience working on agile Scrum projects and working in an environment running multiple concurrent Scrums.
- Perform integration projects required for system automation and testing and integrate
- Develop scripts and processes for project specific tasks and assist development teams with project specific support issues.
- Participate in deployment & configuration of the application as needed
- Generate and maintain configuration management records for releases and software builds
- Perform baseline management configuration control configuration verification and configuration status accounting for supported applications and environments
