Special Education Teacher (The Learning Center Program) (Long Term Substitute)

Qualifications:
- Massachusetts licensure:Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities Prek8 512
(preferred) - Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities All (preferred).
- SEI endorsement preferred
- Masters degree with an emphasis in Special Education preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a special education teacher of a substantially separate program.
- Safety Care training preferred or willing to be trained.
- Experience with the use of specialized teaching techniques used with special education students.
- Ability to design or modify curriculum instructional materials and classroom environments for students with disabilities.
- Ability to implement behavioral management strategies.
- Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools/ Director of Student Services may deem acceptable and appropriate
Responsibilities:
- Work with other special needs staff specialists and administrative personnel in developing educational programs for special education students.
- Complete progress reports educational plan information and other data as required by local state and federal guidelines.
- Responsible for ongoing diagnostic/prescriptive programming for children with disabilities.
- Assist general education teachers in the implementation of modifications for inclusionary practices.
- Guide and direct teaching assistants to facilitate programming for the students.
- Support inclusionary practices to ensure student participation is in the least restrictive environment.
- Continue to grow in the position through attendance at meetings conferences seminars through readings in professional literature and through enrollment in college or university courses.
- Such other responsibilities may from time to time be assigned by the Principal the Special Education Building Administrator and Director of Student Services.
Salary: According to FEA Unit A Contract
