Salary: G8 36124 to 40476
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Sunday annualized contract)

Are you a skilled vehicle mechanic with experience working with larger vehicles and looking for an exciting opportunity in a fastpaced essential public service Walsall Councils Fleet Services is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Workshop Technician to join our highly motivated team.

About the Role

As a Workshop Technician you will:

  • Inspect service and repair a variety of vehicles including HGVs LGVs and agricultural machinery.
  • Conduct fault diagnostics and prepare vehicles for MOT tests.
  • Assist in onthejob training for apprentices and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Be part of the standby/callout rota supporting outofhours operations.

What Were Looking For

  • Qualified HGV mechanic (or timeserved with extensive experience).
  • Strong knowledge of engines transmissions braking systems suspension and vehicle electrics.
  • MOT preparation experience is desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure meeting tight deadlines.
  • A team player with a commitment to high standards and efficiency.

Applications must be able to demonstrate the following qualifications at application:

  • Hold an appropriate Health and Safety Qualification
  • Industry qualification Motor trade industry
  • Driving License including minimum Cat C
  • National Craftsman Certificate / Technician Certificate in the motor vehicle trade or equivalent.
  • MOT testers course (minimum 5 years experience in the motor trade to undertake MOT tests)
