Position Summary:
The Educational Diagnostician or School Psychologist will be a leader in identifying and recognizing the needs of exceptional learners by administering and interpreting assessments pertaining to the specific student needs. The evaluator will be responsible for writing assessment reports and providing recommendations to staff and parents. The evaluator may consult with campuses and families to develop educational plans and supports.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Masters degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures education of special education students
- Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects
- Ability to make sound decisions within the parameters of authority
- Proficiency with technology applications (i.e. Google Suite Microsoft Office Frontline)
Responsibilities and Duties:
Evaluation
- Receive student referrals and review for Response to Intervention (RTI) fidelity
- Select and administer formal and informal evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and state regulations
- Conduct classroom observations Participate in the Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to interpret evaluation data
- Make recommendations for appropriate placement and development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Consultation
- Provide staff development training as requested to assist school personnel in identification of students with disabilities as well as understanding of specific disabilities
- Assist classroom teachers with implementation of IEP
- Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of evaluation data
- Assist in the selection of evaluation materials and equipment
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the evaluation program and make recommendations based on findings
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required
- Observe all retention regulations
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy in the areas of evaluation placement and planning for special education services
- Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment

- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors
- Effectively communicate with colleagues students and parents
