Role Summary

The Head of International & Responsible Investing is a key leadership role within Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) a global investment manager overseeing over $1.4 trillion in AUM* and will lead their $193 billion* global responsible investing platform as well as lead and oversee its overall asset management business in EMEA and APAC. The ideal candidate will possess: 1. A strong track record of leading large complex asset management organizations across Investments Distribution and Enabling Functions; and 2. Significant experience in Responsible Investing including collaboration with industry groups and regulators.

This role will report to the President of NTAM and serve on NTAMs global leadership team in addition to serving on various subsidiary boards and governance committees across the EMEA and APAC regions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead cross functional regional strategies and provide daytoday matrix leadership to senior functional NTAM International leaders across distribution product investments marketing COO risk/compliance/legal finance HR etc.
  • Partner closely with Northern Trust senior executives across the firm to create crossfunctional business plans that enable and scale our One Northern Trust growth strategy in regions where Northern Trust operates in EMEA and APAC.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of our responsible investing platform from portfolio integration and research to client and regulator engagements to drive expansive growth while maintaining strong business resiliency.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy that is aligned with NTAM focused segments: institutional global family office and wealth management.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of sustainability reports ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks policies and accountability mechanisms to ensure compliance and consistent investment and business practices.
  • Represent NTAM with regulatory bodies and ensure we meet our obligations in across the various legal entities (United Kingdom the Netherlands Japan Australia and Hong Kong).
  • Ensure board governance and compliance with contractual statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Develop and execute strategies to attract develop and grow talent in the various regional markets we operate in.

Necessary Knowledge and Skills:

  • Critical thinker with problem solving abilities who is able to navigate large organizations and organize resources to effectively prioritize issues and respond to clients and senior management.
  • Deep knowledge across various areas of sustainable investing including portfolio integration research regulations and varying regional investor preferences.
  • Strong communication skills ability to communicate complex topics in a simple and concise manner to a range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to build develop and motivate highperforming teams.
  • Existing industry profile and relationships that can accelerate business growth and bring new perspectives and best practices to the organization.
  • Ability to think strategically execute with precision and prioritize in a fastpaced environment.

Necessary Experience and Education:

  • 20 years of relevant investment management experience with specific roles managing complex investment portfolios/capabilities and senior leaders across multiple functions.
  • Experience working with global markets and global leaders.
  • Recognized leader integrating sustainability to increase investment performance.
  • A bachelors degree with an MBA or CFA highly desired.
