The Opportunity

Were seeking an exceptional Technical Sales & Business Development Manager with strong engineering expertise and established connections in the energy and defense sectors. This pivotal technical leadership role requires someone who brings advanced engineering knowledge industry process expertise and an existing network of relationships in our target industries.

As our Technical Sales & Business Development Manager youll leverage your engineering background to lead a team that develops specialized technical solutions strengthens client engineering relationships and secures key contracts for complex engineering projects. Your technical credibility and industry connections will drive our growth while you develop the next generation of engineering sales leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Expertise Application
  • Lead technical solution development for complex engineering projects
  • Apply engineering principles to solve client challenges in energy and defense applications
  • Provide technical oversight for proposals specifications and solution designs
  • Conduct technical feasibility assessments and engineering reviews
  • Collaborate with R&D on engineering innovations for market differentiation
Industry Technical Network Leverage
  • Utilize existing technical relationships in engineering departments of target clients
  • Apply deep process engineering knowledge to identify client technical needs
  • Represent CRA as a technical authority in industry engineering forums
  • Bring technical market intelligence from established industry connections
  • Participate in key engineering associations and technical committees
Technical Team Leadership & Development
  • Build manage and mentor a team of specialized technical sales engineers
  • Develop technical competencies across the sales organization
  • Create engineering knowledge sharing systems and technical training programs
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and engineering innovation
  • Identify specialized skill gaps and implement targeted technical training
EngineeringDriven Revenue Generation
  • Drive technical sales targets through engineering expertise and solution development
  • Identify engineering challenges in target sectors that CRA can uniquely address
  • Develop technical specifications and engineering parameters for proposals
  • Build relationships with technical decisionmakers and engineering stakeholders
  • Lead technical negotiations for complex engineering contracts
Technical Market Strategy
  • Apply engineering insights to identify specialized market opportunities
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to align R&D with market needs
  • Develop technical differentiation strategies against engineering competitors
  • Create compelling technical value propositions for specialized applications
  • Identify emerging technical requirements and engineering trends in target industries

Requirements

Technical Experience & Qualifications
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical Electrical Chemical preferred) with advanced technical knowledge
  • 7 years of experience in technical engineering sales within energy and/or defense sectors
  • Demonstrated expertise in process engineering mechanical systems control systems or other relevant technical domains
  • Established network of relationships with technical decisionmakers and engineering stakeholders
  • Proven track record of engineeringdriven sales success and technical solution development
  • Experience leading and developing technical teams in a sales environment
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles applied to energy and defense applications
Specialized Technical Knowledge
  • Advanced understanding of industrial engineering processes
  • Technical expertise in pressure vessels heat exchangers fluid handling control systems or other relevant engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge of engineering standards (ASME API ISA IEEE) and technical compliance requirements
  • Understanding of technical procurement specifications and engineering qualification processes
  • Ability to assess technical feasibility and engineering requirements for complex projects
Technical Leadership Capabilities
  • Experience leading engineeringfocused teams and technical professionals
  • Ability to translate complex engineering concepts for various stakeholders
  • Technical problemsolving skills applied to commercial opportunities
  • Engineering project management experience
  • Skill in balancing technical excellence with commercial viability
Technical Commercial Acumen
  • Experience creating technically differentiated value propositions
