Job Description
Expression is seeking a Data Scientist to support the continued growth of our Data Science Department. Reporting directly to a data team manager or Sr. Data Scientist this role is responsible for designing and implementing highimpact data engineering data science and AI/ML solutions across a variety of domains and use cases. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly technical collaborative environment and excels at delivering measurable results under tight deadlines.
Location:
- Department of Commerce (NTIA) 23 days/week onsite).
Travel Requirement: 10 for user validation events and training in DC/VA/MD Metropolitan area is required
Security Clearance:
- US Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain Secret clearance or higher
Responsibilities:
- Design implement and deploy scalable data pipelines and AI/ML models in production environments.
- Contribute to the full data science lifecycle for new data services and products from requirements gathering through deployment and optimization.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including Program Managers Subject Matter Experts Architects Engineers and Data Scientists to understand customer requirements develop prototypes and optimize existing data services/products.
- Participate in research case studies and prototype development to explore and leverage cuttingedge technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Data Science/Statistics or relevant discipline
- Current Security certification (or must obtain within 30 days)
- 2 years of experience creating AI/ML models and data pipelines.
- 3 years of experience using Python language and libraries for data science.
- 1 years of experience creating ETL processes and working with a variety of databases (SQL NoSQL Graph etc. and data architectures (Data Lake Lakehouse).
- Solid knowledge of machine learning algorithms and advanced statistical concepts and methods.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in in Computer Science/Data Science/Statistics or relevant discipline
- Experience with Azure solutions (Databricks Spark Streaming OpenAI Service).
- Experience with PostgreSQL ElasticSearch MongoDB and graph databases.
- Experience with NLP and Large Language Models.
- Experience with GenAI enabled daily workflows (coding testing analytics).
- Experience with shortrelease cycles and the full software lifecycle
- Experience with Agile development methodology (e.g. Scrum)
