Leidos has an opening for a Fire Protection Engineer in Reston Virginia. The primary focus of the group is reverse engineering Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) related facilities and their infrastructure subsystems. Candidate must bring a creative yet sound approach to identifying and solving challenges where all the information desired is inherently unavailable and have exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to thoroughness. The successful candidate will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team of government and contractor personnel. Work will be performed in a fastpaced highenergy environment within a government facility.
Role and Responsibility:
- As part of a characterization team systematically integrate allsource intelligence geotechnical data topographical data underground expertise and engineering principles and best practices todescribe WMDfacility function (mission) and physical configuration including layout physical structure mission systems support systems 3D model and corresponding potential vulnerabilities
- Provide engineering guidance and judgment throughout the characterization process to produce accurate intelligence estimates
- Brief senior officials regarding capability trends and analysis
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI or a Top Secret clearance with a current SSBI and be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI w/ poly level clearance
- BS degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain
- Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related engineering field (e.g. mechanical etc. and workrelated professional certifications
- Experience in lieu of degree
- Knowledge of fire protection codes to be able to perform design calculations and conduct engineering assessments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully brief and interact with Senior Officials
PreferredQualifications:
- Professional Engineering certification
- Military or defenserelated experience and an understanding of operational planning
- Knowledge of fire protection systems integration with building or industrial control systems (BCS/ICS)
- Working knowledge of mechanical electrical and lifesafety systems and their controls found in larger commercial government or industrial facilities
- Experience with Industrial HVAC Central Plant Utilities Uninterrupted Power Supplies Industrial Process Water/Wastewater Data Centers Cogen Plants or Combined Cooling Heating & Power
- Working knowledge of weapons and weapons effects
