The basics of this position:

TRIO Upward Bound High School Teachers provide guidance instruction and support for supplemental high school academic sessions. These academic sessions include work in math (algebra advanced algebra geometry and precalculus) English (grammar literature and college writing) science (physics chemistry and Biology I and II) and/or foreign language (Spanish Latin and/or French). TRIO Upward Bound High School Teachers facilitate Saturday sessions during the academic year and/or during the sixweek summer program to support the participants engagement learning and understanding of academic content through projectbased learning and collaborative assignments. TRIO Upward Bound High School Teachers are responsible for ensuring a multicultural perspective in all elements of the instruction and content delivered.

What youll do:

  • Develop syllabi and lesson plans for subject area to be taught.
    Develop and deliver a curriculum that addresses academic objectives.
    Submit daily attendance reports.
    Submit assignments for review and documentation.
    Attend orientation and onboarding sessions awards programs and other program events.
    Attend staff meetings for the purpose of formatively evaluating student progress an determining improvement strategies for students.
    Prepare weekly progress reports and submit them to the Manager of TRIO Upward Bound.
    Submit curriculum evaluation for the purpose of improving program services.
    Provide feedback to students that will enhance their academic growth.
    Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Education experience and other requirements:

Bachelors degree and teaching certification in the subject area; or masters degree in subject matter to be taught.
Two 2 years teaching or related experience.
Previous work in related educational settings or in programs that support youth from underrepresented student populations.
