POSITION SUMMARY: Assist the zoo to accomplish its mission through the development and of a variety of visual graphics that attractively and effectively communicate the various messages and zoo brand across a variety of communication channels.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: - Two years experience in Marketing Digital Marketing Graphic Design or related field.
- Bachelors Degree preferred in Marketing Digital Media Social Media Management Graphic Design or related field.
- Possess a keen attention to detail adaptive eye and a clear understanding of the principles and elements of design.
- Able to creatively convert written or spoken ideas into visually pleasing finished products combining typeface images video and other elements for use in print and digital media.
- Proficient using various design software tools like Photoshop Illustrator InDesign and Canva.
- Able to manage monitor and update the zoo website using WordPress.
- Able to use a large format printer laminator copy machine digital camera and video camera.
- Able to manage the production of graphics required for the function of the zoo including but not limited to maps brochures flyers posters ads signs banners logos and more.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Able to meet deadlines and work in a fastpaced environment.
- Able to absorb and apply constructive criticism.
- Possess a valid driver license.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Collaborate with zoo staff to develop create and maintain directional informational educational and event graphics for print digital and social media at exhibits and in the park.
- Manage the operations of the zoos website and digital signs.
- Track measure and report analytics from website traffic social media and digital campaigns.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and suppliers as needed.
- Collaborate on the creation and scheduling of social media posts events and video.
- Collaborate on special event planning.
- Capture photographic and video graphic images of animals guests special events programs etc. in the park as needed.
- Organize and secure storage of the zoos library of digital photo images video and graphic files.
- Maintain department equipment tools and technology.
- Communicate and relate positively with team members other supervisors and their staff vendors volunteers and guests.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Comply with all Binder Park Zoo policies and procedures.
- Participate in special zoo projects and events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: - Able to work outdoors and on various terrains in all weather conditions.
- Able to climb and stand on various types of ladders without supervision.
- Able to use various tools (drills saws hammers) without supervision to install/remove signs banners.
- Able to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends evenings holidays and special events as needed.
- Able to read speak and write English in order to fulfill job functions in an understandable way.
- Able to sit stand bend lift and move intermittently throughout the day.
- Able to lift and carry 50 pounds at times not repetitively.
- Able to drive motor vehicles such as a golf cart.
