Job Description

Position Summary

MalaceHR is seeking a skilled Operating Engineer to join our facility operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operation maintenance troubleshooting and repair of facility systems and equipment. This role requires expertise in at least one primary craft area (Electrical HVAC Piping/Plumbing or Central Utility Plant Operations) with the ability to support additional trades as needed. The Operating Engineer will ensure systems are performing efficiently and safely in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. MF 85pm


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Mechanical Plumbing Structural Furniture Fire Life Safety and Control systems.

  • Maintain building systems to ensure optimal operation and compliance with standards.

  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC and associated equipment; clean inspect calibrate and replace parts as needed.

  • Monitor and record equipment readings making adjustments to ensure proper operation.

  • Safely store use and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with policies and regulations.

  • Conduct periodic inventory checks for tools and instruments.

  • Oversee work performed by external contractors ensuring quality and costeffectiveness.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas adhering to all safety procedures and standards.

  • Proactively identify safety hazards and suggest improvements to mitigate risks.


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 5 7 years of experience in facility maintenance or a similar role.

  • Proven experience with commercial building systems (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing and HVAC).

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

  • EPA 608 Type II Certification.

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred:

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification.

  • Two years of formal trades training in electrical systems refrigeration or HVAC.
