Description

Hennepin County District Court is currently accepting applications for a SelfHelp Center (SHC) Specialist position with the Judicial Branchs SelfRepresented Litigant (SRL) Program.

The SRL Program provides information to selfrepresented litigants (SRLs) with legal issues that can be addressed in District Court pursuant to Minn. Gen. R. Prac. Rule 110. SRL Program staff cannot provide legal advice.

The goals of the program include:

  • Increasing access to justice for individuals who cannot afford to hire an attorney or choose not to hire an attorney to represent them.
  • Improving the efficiency of the Minnesota Judicial Branch

The Minnesota Judicial Branchs SRL Program has three SelfHelp Center (SHC) locations including two walkin centers located in downtown Minneapolis and one statewide virtual center. Together the SHCs serve over 75000 customers annually in person via phone and via email. Each of the three SelfHelp Centers is a diverse professional environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court users. SelfHelp Center Specialists work individually and in teams using independent judgment and available resources to assist SRLs by responding to a variety of SRL questions across different case types.

The SHC Specialist will work mainly with the SHC located in the Hennepin County Family Justice Center (FJC). This position will also help SRLs and the SHC team at the Hennepin County Government Center (HCGC) and may assist the Statewide SelfHelp Center.

The position is fulltime nonexempt benefitsearning and classified as SelfHelp Center Specialist. Core business hours are 8:00 a.m.4:30 p.m. MondayFriday but hours may vary depending on business needs. During the initial training period this position will work onsite at the Hennepin County Family Justice Center (FJC). After the initial training period the position will work both onsite and remote which may change based on assignments and/or business needs. As this position may be working partially remotely access to reliable internet connection is required. Interviews may be conducted virtually via Zoom or in Person.

SALARY:

The expected starting salary range for SelfHelp Center Specialist is $29.13$37.18 $60823.44$77631.84 annually). The full salary range for the SelfHelp Center Specialist position is $29.13$45.22 $60823.44$94419.36 annually). This position is nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
