Job Description Summary
The Department of Theatre within The School of Music Theatre and Dance invites artist/educators for a tenuretrack Assistant Professor of TheatreMusical Theatre position beginning August 15 2019. Responsibilities: teach undergraduate courses in the musical theatre BFA curriculum such as Acting the Song Musical Theatre Workshop Musicianship and Singing Styles; advise students and help foster the transition of graduating students to the professional world. Experience in other areas such as stage direction choreography vocal coaching and music directing is desirable. Successful candidates will be dedicated to teaching students in a rigorous BFA setting and to positive collaboration with fellow artists/faculty within an integrated department and school and possess a thorough knowledge of current vocal trends and musical theatre repertoire. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Keyboard skills preferred but not required. Minimum Qualifications
MFA in Theatre (acting/directing or musical theatre) or comparable degree plus professional experience; or a masters degree or BFA with extensive professional experience. University teaching experience or the ability to demonstrate potential teaching effectiveness.
