Job Description
NTN Driveshaft a world leader in constant velocity technology for the automotive industry seeks an experiencedProduction Control Managerfor our Columbus Indiana operations. NTN currently has over 2000 employees in our Columbus operation and customer demand for our product is growing rapidly. NTN Driveshaft manufactures Constant Velocity Joints (CVJs) for all major automotive companies. These customers include Honda Ford Toyota GM Chrysler and other automotive OEMs.
As aProduction Control Manager you will be responsible for leading the planning scheduling and material control functions including Shipping and Receiving that support our highvolume manufacturing operations. In this key leadership role you will ensure ontime delivery of driveshaft products to our OEM customers while optimizing inventory levels and driving operational efficiency with Lean Manufacturing principles. This position plays a critical role in supporting NTNs commitment to quality delivery and customer satisfaction as a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and manage theMaster Production Schedule (MPS)to align production capacity with customer requirements ensuring timely fulfillment of OEM orders.
Lead and overseedaily production schedulingactivities across machining assembly heat treat and finishing operations ensuring alignment with customer demand and inventory targets.
Actively manage and monitor Inventory accuracy to ensure accurate planning and forecasting.
Maintain optimalinventory levelsof raw materials WIP and finished goods to meet delivery targets while minimizing inventory carrying costs.
Collaborate with thePurchasing Logistics Quality and Engineering teamsto ensure material availability resolve production constraints and support new product development and design changes.
Monitorcustomerforecasts; communicate delivery schedules and changes across the organization to maintain transparency and responsiveness.
Act as the primary liaison withOEM customersand internal stakeholders regarding production planning and order status.
LeadProduction Control team members provide clear direction performance feedback and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
UtilizeJD Edward ERP systemto manage production schedules material planning forecasting and reporting.
Identify and implementlean manufacturing principles and process improvementsto drive efficiency reduce waste and support NTNs SQCCD (Safety Quality Compliance Cost and Delivery) objectives.
Develop and trackkey performance indicators (KPIs)such as production schedule adherence inventory turns and accuracy and delivery performance.
Ensure compliance withIATF16949standards customerspecific requirements.
Supportlaunch activitiesfor new programs by coordinating production planning and launch readiness.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS EDUCATION AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelors degree in business Supply Chain Management Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- 7 yearsof Production Planning/Control experience in a highvolumeautomotive manufacturing facility with at least3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding ofTier 1 supplier requirements including EDI OEM release management and JIT/JIS (JustInTime / JustInSequence) delivery models.
- Proficient inERP/MRP systems preferablyJD Edwards or similar.
- Knowledge ofLean ManufacturingKanbanpull systemsand experience implementing process improvements.
- Familiarity withIATF 16949quality management systems.
- Exceptionalanalyticalproblemsolving anddecisionmakingskills.
- Strongleadershipandinterpersonalabilities with the capability to lead crossfunctional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in afastpaced highvolume automotive environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Primarily based in anoffice environmentwithin the manufacturing plant.
- Requires frequent interaction on theproduction floorto coordinate activities and resolve issues.
- Occasional travel may be required tocustomer sitesor otherNTN manufacturing locations.
- Flexibility to work additional hours or weekends as necessary to meet customer requirements.
