04/17Provo City is looking for a fulltime Apprentice Line Clearance Arborist to provide skilled power line tree clearance work in support of Provo Citys utility and street tree maintenance programs.This position includes working around power lines to clear trees and other debris as well as other general maintenance duties. Pay Range: (G25 G27 $23.66 $35.96 per hour (depending on qualifications)

What are the main duties For the full classification specification click here.
Climb trees using safety devices and harnesses.
Under close supervision assist with trimming trees and shrubs from high voltage power lines to eliminate safety hazards and to ensure power reliability.
Remove tree limbs and other items that obstruct wires.
Assist in performing rigging maneuvers with ropes blocks slings and other tools and equipment.
Provide maintenance care including planting watering spraying sweeping fertilizing pruning and anchoring trees.
Cable brace tie bolt stake and guy trees and branches to provide support.
Safely operate or assist in operating various power tools equipment and vehicles.
Load job order equipment onto trucks.
Empty various containers into trucks and receptacles.
Set out flags and cones for work site safety.
Assist other crew and staff members as needed and perform other related duties as required.
What are the minimum qualifications
Provo City will honor equivalent combinations of jobrelated education and experience (substituting each one year of education/training for six months of experience).
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
A valid lawful Commercial Driver License.
One year of experience as a tree trimmer.
Flagger Training Certification.
Registration as a Tree Trimmer Apprentice (Line Clear) with the Department of Labors Apprenticeship USA program.
What is the selection process
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted with the first screening being held on DATE. Applicants mustmeet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Nondisclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six 6 months.
