Bachelors degree and 5 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

At least five years experiences in pre postaward services.
Experience in a leadership position managing research support services and staff.
Experience supervising and managing a team of professional staff.
Experience working with faculty and matching them to opportunities for funding

Job Description:

The College of Engineering at Iowa State University is seeking an Assistant Director of Grants to lead and streamline research administration and grant development for our worldclass faculty.

This continuous benefitseligible position offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by supporting innovative research initiatives managing external funding processes and fostering a collaborative research environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage 10 full time staff

  • Guide faculty through the grant lifecyclefrom identifying funding opportunities to proposal development budgeting and award closeout.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and liaison to university offices such as OSPA SPA and the Office of the Vice President for Research.

  • Spearhead research development initiatives including workshops internal support programs and interdisciplinary proposal coordination.

  • Manage daytoday operations of the Engineering Research Institute (ERI) including team leadership reporting and continuous process improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external funding regulations and maintain a strong focus on service and efficiency.

  • Lead and oversee all pre and postaward activities including supervising key personnel and ensuring timely accurate proposal submissions and grant management.

You have experience with federal and industry grant funding and university research operations.
