Work requireslong work hours including evenings and weekends in an office environment under the pressure of multiple travel for multiple days and extended hours is required. Incumbent frequently works independently. Is required to attend and conduct public meetings sometimes with difficult audiences and under emotionally charged situations. May occasionally be required to observe and participate in strenuous field activities in adverse weather conditions to review and evaluate projects.

Job Duties:
The Habitat Bureau Chief is responsible for developing administering and implementing programs to restore maintain and protect native species and their habitats; and improve and protect fish and wildlife habitat so highpriority areas are conserved and connected at a landscape level to meet the current and future needs of the three essential elements of maintaining aquatic habitat are water quantity water quality and physical habitat features.A primary function of this position will be developing effective relationships and maintaining good communication with all stakeholders: the public nongovernmental organizations/business and governmental parties within Montana.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
The knowledge skills and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in biology Fish and Wildlife Management Fish Biology Natural Resources Management Parks and Recreation Management or a related field and at least 5 years jobrelated experience to include progressively advanced fish biology program management facilities management or human dimensions in management practices leadership skills facilitation project management conflict resolution and negotiation processes is experience is combinations of education and experience will be considered on a casebycase basis
