PartTime work schedule will not exceed twenty 20 hours per week.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide tutoring for assigned atrisk students on a regular basis. Tutorials may be scheduled during the school day with flexible hours and may include some before and after school tutoring sessions as per the campus principal or principals designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- College/University student majoring or minoring in the field of education or academic field i.e. English Language Arts Reading Math Science or Social Studies
- Candidates must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Possess excellent communication skills to include ability to work well with children teenagers and adults
- Demonstrate competence in the core content areas English Language Arts Reading Math Science or Social Studies
- Ability to be prompt and have reliable attendance on scheduled days
- Excellent presentation skills organization skills and basic technology skills
Experience:
- Minimum of thirty 30 semester hours of college or currently enrolled in a teacher education program
- Prior classroom teaching experience
- Valid Texas teaching certification if applicable
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Attend training/meeting in the specific JISD location
- Facilitate tutorial sessions in math English Language Arts Reading Math Science or Social Studies
- Manage learning materials and assist in student materials for specific lessons
- Relate positively to students and develop mutually respectful relationships
- Maintain confidentiality of students and achievement
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process where available
- Assess student progress and communicate frequently and honestly with the principal or designee regarding student progress and areas of success and/or concern
- Review student data and plan with teacher of record
- Become familiar with the curriculum book libraries and instructional materials used by the campus
- Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for the students
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensure the academic and social/personal success of each student
- Model goal setting and the effective organizational/personal concepts
- Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required
- Act as a role model in behavior and appropriate attire at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned based on department needs
- Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
- Ability to use personal computer to access district programs emails and other resources
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educators Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
