Through our 612 deans program we ensure that every student experiences the mentorship belonging tailored support and transformative learning experiences that help them thrive during and beyond high school. In grades 912 deans also guide students college process guiding our graduates on to wellchosen desirable and selective postsecondary pursuits. This comprehensive counseling approach allows for a deeper understanding of each student and trusting partnerships between school and families.
Avenues So Paulo seeks a Director of Student Wellbeing the leader dedicated to realizing these goals by leading the people strategies and structures that support them. This role leads the wellbeing team in grades 612 comprising deans student success team and others and is a key leader in the Secondary Division. The deans this role leads are mentors cheerleaders confidants and occasional toughlovegivers who support students wellbeing partner deeply with their families and across the division and support their journey to whats next.
In this role you will:
Lead and develop an extraordinary wellbeing team across grades 612
Get to know each team member in depth quickly building hightrust relationships
Ensure all team members are growing professionally and doing the right things right
Ensure strong collaboration and alignment between deans and faculty to support healthy student culture and students & teachers success
Ensure that each student has meaningful trusting relationships and mentorship with adults
Each dean is a highly effective trusted mentor to students and partner with families
Every student has an adult in the building who they deeply trust and rely on for guidance and support
Foster a culture of shared commitment to student wellbeing throughout the division
Design and execute a strategy for each student to access critical wellbeinggenerative experiences at Avenues. All students in grades 612 should have these experiences which are shown to drive longterm lifethriving outcomes during their time in the Secondary Division.
Experiential learning: doing a highquality and longterm academic project engaging deeply in an extracurricular activity applying their learning in a realworld internship or working experience.
Socioemotional: Identifying strongly with an adult mentor (typically their dean) teachers who they feel really care about them as a person and teachers who make them excited about learning.
Ensure that we know and meet each students unique needs
Ensure we continue to effectively implement and refine structures and practices for effective tiered support intervention and follow up on individual learning needs
Leverage internal resources to create and implement data and management systems to deliver on these goals
Guide Avenues graduates to wellchosen greatfit selective pursuits after high school
Execute our college counseling strategy ensuring that most Avenues students matriculate to selective colleges and universities that are a great fit for them
Support deans to expertly help families navigate the (often emotionally fraught) terrain of the college process
