Job Description

The Senior Practitioner will in consultation with the Integrated Family Services Coordinator:

Provide case management and case work service to complex clients of the Integrated Family Services program

Provide supervision and case direction to team membersin the absence of the Integrated Family Services Coordinator

Facilitate and manage referral and intake processes for Integrated Family Services

Manage student placements assignments

Plan and facilitate group programs to vulnerable children young people and families

Develop and maintain positive relationships with The Orange Door Child Protection other government and community organisations

Comply with relevant legislation MacKillop Family Services and DHHS policies and procedures

Participate in and contribute to program development and innovation

Contribute positively to teamwork and culture

Commitment to the safety wellbeing and best interests of children and young people and duty of care in the prevention identification and response to child abuse.

Commitment to the special needs of children vulnerable people and people with a disability; people from a culturally or linguistically diverse (CALD) background; and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

Promote and support the Sanctuary Framework and its integration into the work with families and to promote and monitor staff well being

About the role:

The Senior Practitioner will assist the Coordinator with the recruitment and induction of IFS staff and student placements provide supplementary supervision and support for IFS staff with the Coordinator support the development and implementation of work and development plans which include professional development initiatives constructively participate in supervision with the Integrated Family Service Coordinator provide Integrated consultation within the team and the broader service system in relation to complex family work.

As well as provide a professional and developmentally appropriate casework service undertake thorough culturally appropriate assessments and ensure the delivery of a high quality intensive service to clients ensure that appropriate protocols and client information systems are maintained and data is provided as required by funding agreements and MacKillop Family Services participate and actively contribute to all relevant team meetings and case consultation meetings initiate and coordinate internal and external case assessments planning and review processes as required facilitate group work programs as required establish collaborative relationships with Child Protection and other relevant stakeholders manage the equivalent of 80 caseload within IFS with the remaining 20 allocated to Senior Practitioner duties

This is a Part Time 34.2 hours per week 0.9 EFT opportunity based in Footscray VIC within our Integrated Family Services Program. The position reports to the Coordinator Integrated Family Services.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role the incumbent will have:

  • Social Work or other relevant bachelor or higherlevel tertiary qualifications
  • A minimum of three years demonstrated experience and skills in assessment and clinical interventions and family centred practice with vulnerable children young people and families with complex needs
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and their families
  • Welldeveloped knowledge of child development and the issues that vulnerable children young people and families face.
  • High level casework and case management skills counselling skills and experience working with complex and culturally diverse families.
