SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for preparing and serving resident meals; supervision of the operation and maintenance of all kitchen equipment; supervision of resident chores in the kitchen and dining room. Responsible for maintaining the kitchen dining room and food storage areas to be in compliance with current Oregon Health Department standards. Also supervise volunteers assigned to the kitchen or food storage areas. Deal professionally and appropriately with program participants and donors plan daily meals maintain records and prepare food for regular meals and special events. Any special or unusual concern is to be brought to the immediate attention of the supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Potentially Volunteers on Occasion in kitchen dining and food storage areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: A minimum of one years experience as a cook in either a business or social services setting. The individual must obtain yearly certification in first aid CPR and a Multnomah County Food Handlers Card. Drivers License.
Considered: Experience in cooking on an institutional scale helpful but not required.
PROFESSIONALISM (NOT LISTED IN PRIORITY ORDER):
ORGANIZATION SKILLS: Must maintain an organized work area files etc. contributing to the efficiency and accuracy of work within the assigned workday and avoiding unnecessary overtime. Must Keep Dry and Wet Stocks up to Date. Must maintain the kitchen area in a sanitary way.
RESPONSIBILITY: Work is done under general supervision in accordance with general procedures or policies. Will have some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment. Decisions and actions are subject to prior approval in unusual cases by the Director or Shelter Supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
