Job Description
POSITION TITLE: School Psychologist or Educational Examiner
FLSA: Exempt Professional
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from a NCATE approved program in school psychology. This program provides training in the psychological and academic assessment of children behavioral and academic interventions in addition to consultation with teachers and parents.
- Appropriate state teacher certification as a school psychologist.
- Experience in the public school setting is preferred.

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 days; benefits provided according to Board policy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: These statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities duties and skills required.
- Improve Academic Achievement:
- Assist in the collection and interpretation of schoolwide classroom and student data.
- Conduct individual psychological and academic evaluations.
- Consult with school staff on topics of motivation engagement classroom management and researchbased academic intervention.
- Be a member of the Student Intervention Team building meeting when requested.
- Promote Positive Behavior:
- Consult with school staff on the development of effective Behavior Intervention Plans and appropriate data collection to determine effectiveness.
- Consult with school staff on the topics of problem solving anger management conflict resolution coping skills positive peer relationships and researchbased behavioral interventions.
- Assess learning needs.
- Provide culturally responsive services to students and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Consult with school staff to develop appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) modify and adapt curricula and instruction monitor effectiveness of special service programs and effectively communicate needs and outcomes.
- Participate as an IEP team member with functional behavioral assessments behavior intervention plans and /or in the manifestation determination process.
- Review student records for the screening and evaluation process of students.
- Create Safe and Positive School climates:
- Prevent bullying and other forms of violence.
- Support socialemotional learning.
- Identify atrisk students in need of intervention.
- Strengthen FamilySchool Partnerships:
- Help families understand their childs learning and mental health needs.
- Assist parents in navigating the special education process.
- Help students and their families in efforts to transition between school and community.
- State and District Procedures:
- Support the districts Child Find obligation in identifying children with disabilities in need of special education services.
- Assure parents receive informed consent before conducting psychoeducational evaluations.
- Complete evaluation in a professional manner and by established timelines.
- Complete appropriate paperwork within identified timelines.
- Be punctual and professional at all required meetings.
ESSENTIAL BEHAVIOR:
Ability to use sound judgment in any situation. Must be able to respond rapidly and appropriately to the needs of students. Must build harmonious rapport and work cooperatively with administrators site staff students and parents. Other duties as assigned by the administration.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers electronic tablets printer copy and fax machines and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Environmental Conditions:
Primarily inside working conditions and some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty/activities.
Certification/License
- Arkansas State Certification as a School Psychology Specialist or Educational Examiner.
- Motor Vehicle Operators License or ability to provide own transportation.
Experience
Successful prior school psychology specialist experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
Successful prior Educational Examiner experience.
