PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the special education teacher to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs personal care needs including selfhelp behavior management and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Minimum Experience:
Experience working with children/students parents or persons with disabilities

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problemsolving skill while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decisionmaking. May be required to lift or transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities
Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decisionmaking Possible exposure to biological hazards bacteria and communicable diseases. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling
Occasional irregular hours.
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training wearing personal protective equipment as required reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
