Our Team

From takeoff to landing Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support todays growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS / OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.

This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australias sky and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.

Your role:

We have a need for a Principal Systems Engineer for one of the key CMATS subsystems TopSKY which provides the core Air Traffic Management functionality of CMATS.

In this role you will work in an international multidisciplinary feature team focused on the design development and validation of a TopSKY function. You will be responsible for the technical design and will lead the productrelease plans.

The Principal System Engineer works closely with the Product Owner who has the global vision at business level. And he works closely as well with the Solution Architect and he is able to take over some architecture tasks.

This position is based at the World Trade Centre in Melbourne CBD.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Organise the coengineering of the Feature Team working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Design and maintain the systems engineering artefacts of the Function including; requirements capability description functional behaviour and data exchanges (internal and external interfaces)
• Support the Solution Architect in writing the architecture document (SSDD).
• Ensure the transversal constraints related to the function are considered (Safety Human Factor Performance Security)
• Build and manage key relationships synthesize information from multiple sources maintain Initiative Owner need in the Team Backlog and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences all with a bias toward delivering and learning quickly
• Contribute to the definition of the validation strategy
• Contribute and participate to the technical reviews (SOR SFR FIRR SwRR)
• Provides technical oversight to other teams within the project/bid ensuring that the designed solution is implemented as per the design and in accordance to the project/bid schedule and cost and quality constraints.

On day one you will come with:

Air Traffic Management domain expertise in one or more of the following functional areas:

• Coordination
• Surveillance
• Adaptation/Configuration
• Interpartition/SWIM
• Profile
• HMI
• Tower
• Simulation and Training
• Safety Nets/Conflict Detection
• AMAN/DMAN

• Experience with Air Traffic Management standards eg. ICAO Eurocontrol AID
• Proven experience in Systems Engineering 7 years) including; Requirements Design Integration and Verification and Validation
• Experience with Systems Engineering Standards eg. ISO/IEC15288
• Proven experience in the development of products and projects in a variety of methodologies with a particular focus on iterative/agile development
• Experience with Safety Security and Human Factors standards and practices
