Job Description:

This role is responsible for managing Health Information Management (HIM) functions including the processing of legal medical documents and requests coding and documentation compliance and document scanning entered into the electronic medical record. This role is also responsible to ensure privacy and confidentiality of patient and institutional data for UTMC. Also assists medical and administrative leadership in evaluating and designing the quality and appropriateness of health information services for patients and health care services

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in health information management Business Administration or related field is required; masters degree preferred.
    Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding SpecialistPhysicianbased (CCSP) required. Additional certifications (e.g. RHIA RHIT) a plus. HEMA certification is preferred.
    Minimum of 57 years of experience in coding and health information management with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
    Expertise in ICD10 CPT HCPCS coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI).
    Experience managing outsourced coding agencies and vendor relationships.
    Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations billing reimbursement processes and compliance requirements.
    Proven ability to lead and motivate a team with excellent communication organizational and problemsolving skills.
    Must have advanced working knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and coding software.
